Thanks, Nisa. I certainly have had a good week and by great coincidence, spent 2 days with family on the Russian River here in California. It was a gorgeous getaway ... I had not seen my sister or nephew in 2 years.
That's funny - a Russian river in California. :)) So far I've only heard about Saint Petersburg in Florida and seen a road sign "Moscow" in Pennsylvania. :)
Ooh, history time! Our part of CA had early 19th century explorers and fur hunters, per orders of Emperor Alexander, set out to settle into a town rather than hit or miss hunting expeditions. They established a fort, now called Fort Ross CA, to gain a presence in the area until 1848, when "Alta California" officially became part of the U.S.
