Fandom Wrap In Which I Pronk And Stott:

1. Watching old films on Turner Classic Movies channel and afterwards consulting imdb
2. reading non-fiction in hardcover plus fic on fanfiction.net and AO3
3. writing Star Wars, Star Trek, Penguins of Madagsacar, and Hogan's Heroes fic mostly generated from theforce.net prompts
4. sewing in which I completed two outfits
5. RL in which I felt significantly better after June 13. :)

Your top 5 fandom spaces:

1. theforce.net with my book reviews and my movie reviews
2. fanfiction.net https://www.fanfiction.net/~pronker
3. X retweeting
4. tumblr reblogging
5. imdb reference only

The top 5 things you did to contribute to fandom:

1. Posting a challenge in Snowflake!!
2. Reviewing on fanfiction.net and on AO3

4. I am happy with Barbie https://pronker.dreamwidth.org/196496.html
5. Enfilade https://pronker.dreamwidth.org/192070.html to the Hogan's Heroes fandom, onto which I grafted Captain America plus (comics) Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos. The research gratified. :)

Your top 5 most appreciated fandom contributions were:

1. A search of mine sparked this post https://meta-warehouse.dreamwidth.org/25253.html of which the origin was https://fanlore.org/wiki/The_good_old_days_before_google_were_dark_and_involved_horses
2. Posting in Snowflake! (I said that already?)
3. Pretty sure the reviews were appreciated!

Bonus questions:

Your fandom personality in 2023 was: Pepé Le Pew. To pronk is to bound as many ungulates do, with all four legs together, especially in deep grass or snow. Or as mephitid Pepé Le Pew does in the above clip and as I enjoy doing to website after website in one sitting.

In 2023, you discovered: That after completing a loooooong fic such as Undertow https://archiveofourown.org/works/15355089/chapters/35630259 with 280k words, it's nice to get cozy again with shorter 10k word epics like Enfilade https://archiveofourown.org/works/47966557/chapters/120939247 or drabbles https://archiveofourown.org/works/42772173 or mediumish lengths https://archiveofourown.org/works/44462980

Your fandom home: theforce.net with its many prompts, longheld e-quaintances and active discursive threads: https://boards.theforce.net/members/pronker.1284263/ Next would be fanfiction.net with its forums such as https://www.fanfiction.net/topic/20365/2125824/32/#186412086

Veni vidi vici! :)

Ahah, I've been saving these for a month -

Fandoms:

Penguins of Madagascar

https://youtu.be/iOvy6W0fnro?si=4qAb7tCdy7V2rHsl Hula Girl is Skipper's canon wife, a devoted bobblehead doll whose devotion is in question in this vid ... Skipper deals, as he always does. In the show, Skipper marries a doll, Rico loves a doll, Private cuddles his lunacorns ... while Kowalski is mostly normal because his crush is a dolphin. Luvvit! :)

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13664084/1/Operation-Heartstrings from a favorite POM writer delves into what makes humanized!Kowalski tick. Hint: Science is not the only thing he loves.

https://youtu.be/LU7G_3-1Gvc?si=1ETt0QcSqszOjRGm Michael Bublé's Feeling Good swells forth in this vid by a favorite vidder, Purple Walskurco as each team member soars, celebrates and revels in their wins.

archiveofourown.org/works/53191243/chapters/134593981 NPI_IDK remains a top POM writer whose inventive series, Inverse Alchemy, gains inspiration from Dire Straits albums. I'm blown away by the whole series and this entry links to a canon mystery: who was the lady who resembles a female Skipper? Read to find out.

Jurassic Park

www.fanfiction.net/s/14247695/1/Everything-Becomes-Ashes is a fic that peeks into the reasons SPOILER ALERT that Ellie and Alan break up. All the feels ring so true that I almost teared up, but I'm a tough old bird and did not. Close, though.

Hogan's Heroes

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14296856/1/The-Majors-Malaise Vintronics answers the question 'why does Major Hochstetter stand a certain way time after time in the series?' to my utter satisfaction. It's one of the best things that fanfiction does, answer pesky questions that canon never addresses.

Indiana Jones

https://archiveofourown.org/works/51578770  Each movie in the Indiana Jones series tantalizes with backstory and this fic answers "Whatever did happen to Forrestal, anyway?"  from Raiders of the Lost Ark. This author writes amazingly and prolifically in many genres, always entertaining, more times than I can count LOL funny. It's a gift.

Good Omens

archiveofourown.org/works/21112031  Just now discovered a Desert Peach fic!!! Good Omens/Desert Peach, is anything more perfect?

I made this dolly from separate head and hands that bothered me so much ... :D Her name is Dinah because she's someone in the kitchen with me. As for a personal win, I'm blown away by Generous Friend, who gifted me this laptop last Saturday.

Five favorite smutty fics I've written:

archiveofourown.org/works/35190616/chapters/87683737 Earn More Sessions By Sleeving, its sequel

archiveofourown.org/works/28136/chapters/37088  As Clear As Mud, Star Wars

archiveofourown.org/works/133100  Veterans Day, Star Wars

archiveofourown.org/works/479015  Upright Entasis, Star Wars

Currently, I'm fond of Barbie the doll and film, so there's a Barbie dream house "retired" from boisterous play for use as a squirrel feeder affixed to my backyard fence. I smear peanut butter on a pine cone wired inside and the bold critters nibble away.

Past projects include a Star Wars figure wind chime and a thrift store painting of a landscape "improved" by adding Penguins of Madagascar characters.🤗

A resource for Current Events Fandom is googling www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/dave-barry-s-2023-year-in-review/ar-AA1mghgi"Dave Barry Year in Review" for an informative, insightful, and hilarious take on 2023's happenings. I read his review each year.😄

I love canon voice acting in both the films and  Penguins of Madagascar TV series (and feature film!) by Tom McGrath. He's splendid in the role and if we ever meet, I'll tell him his speech patterns resemble Archie Bunker's. The cadence, the pronunciation of certain words, yeah. I believe it endears the role to him because Skipper and Archie share macho traits ... among other traits ... 😍

From the Random Generator after 3 tries, for the right fit! here goes with 5 Icebreaker Questions:

Have you been given any good advice lately?

Yes, to relax a little about jittery nerves re posting a Snowflake challenge on the 27th.

What do you find attractive that others might find unusual?

The smell of durian, gads, I love that stuff. Spouse bought me some durian extract once. :)

What about you do you seem to get the most comments about?

I'm a good listener.

If you had to name one thing that makes you stand out from others, what would that be?

I'm very self-reliant.

Without saying the category, what are your top five?

  • Saola
  • Ivory-billed Woodpecker
  • Thylacine
  • Southern Rocky Mountain Wolf
  • Jerusalem Cricket

This post by [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith proves remarkable in scope and it's so apt for January. *squishes it*

  • My fandom wishlist is for recs for either fanart or fics (WIPs okay) in these fandoms. Warnings for creakiness in some of these venerable fandoms! :)
  • *deep breath, in through the right nostril, out through the left*
  • Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea TV show, not film
  • King Kong (1933), film or book (yes, there was a book in 1932 by Delos W. Lovelace)
  • Hal and Roger Hunt in Willard Price's Adventure series of YA books
  • Bulldog Drummond
  • Robert Muldoon from Jurassic Park, film or book
  • Bullshot Crummond (yes, it is a hilarious parody of Bulldog Drummond)
  • Laredo western on TV

and a ridiculously explicit desire repeated for a rec (that was splendidly filled in 2022 by fellow Snowflake Rodo with the sublime Korean series Mr. Sunshine that enthralled me for weeks), so here I go again:

The setting and era are important, the fandom is not, so easy, right? Right?
  • Setting to be someplace "exotic" to the United States, such as warlord-era China, Queensland, any banana republic, Albania ...
  • Era is early 20th century, 1910-1939, or right before World War 2.
  • Contains American servicemen in any branch. Could be main characters or minor, OCs okay.
  • *signs off hopefully*
pronker: barnabas and angelique vibing (Default)
*dusts off thinking cap, ties ribbons under chin, smooths down earflaps* Goals. When added up, they're pretty in pink. I've switched them to 2 year goals because of the travel involved.

I want to:

Travel to visit friends and family (round trip distances)
  • 3 miles DONE!
  • 80 miles WIP!
  • 120 miles DONE!
  • 150 miles
  • 150 miles (different friend, different directions)
  • 700 miles
  • 1400 miles
  • 5000 miles
  • 11000 miles

Finish the Tower of Babel using Youngest's barrel of Legos, my design

DONE! Post for Snowflake even though I broke a bone in my hand on December 31st, making typing with a brace difficult

Tailor my dress for Easter WIP

DONE! Complete making the baby doll, already have the hard head, feet and hands, need to attach them and dress her

DONE! Tarp the cat shelter in back yard

WIP! Crochet a new bedspread with cranberry yarn, 12 skeins' worth. Tried Tunisian crochet, which does not work with this wool crinkly stuff, open to suggestions because I do not know what to call the gifted yarn; it's not bouclé so ... ?

Cane the rocking chair seat

DONE! Use scraps from old fur coat to make a muff for my hands, brrrr

Fannishly, write for a challenge two Hogan's Heroes fics, which are in their larval stage, maybe in vé form? HIATUS

That's enough.

I've reupped for the challenge by modding, posting, and navel gazing: I played in a new fandom, Hogan's Heroes, and enjoyed it greatly in 2023. I'm currently perusing Montefiore's biography of Stalin, mostly from the years 1932 to his death; it's stunningly well researched and though I'm currently reading about 1938, the buildup to WW2 seeps into each chapter.

I'm on the front porch atm, enjoying a tiny bit of sunlight peeking between clouds, listening to neighbors' roosters, observing squirrels, and people watching. Several dog walkers strolled by.
