Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

These could be your all-time favorites, fic that fit a certain theme, or the last three fic you read and loved. If you’re looking for a way to make today’s challenge more *coff* interesting, how about rec’ing in small fandoms or rare pairs? A compilation of fic that make a great introduction to a fandom? Recs that aren’t fic, such as art, vids, podfic, meta, crafts, picspam, canon guides, etc. Creators who haven’t yet reached the status of a BNF?

For the purposes of this challenge, a fanwork is defined as any creative endeavor for a fandom. If you love it and someone else created it, please share it!

Small Fandoms and Rare Pairs deserve love, so here's some:

1. Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea Revin Songlifter writes stellar fic in this Small Fandom from the 1960s TV show that ran on Sunday evenings. FanfictionDOTnet archives numerous stories from her talented hands, including this one of a T-rated shore leave that heads into trouble almost as soon as the crew makes liberty. We knew that would happen. Read to enjoy the beloved characters in full fig as military men who know when to throw a punch and when words work better.

Il Diavolo Fa le Pentole Ma Non i Coperchi

2. Star Wars The Rare Pair of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Beru Whitesun Lars deserves a look in this fic set (fannishly) in the days when Obi-Wan and Owen Lars were postulated as brothers. The title of this NC-17 fic promotes the soap opera feel of an attraction that soothes two souls in uncomfortable banishment on an uncomfortable planet.

Sands in the Hourglass

3. DC Superheroes Well, DC Superheroes isn't small, but the characters are relatively puny in fame, not at all in the Superman/Batman league. The Phantom Stranger and Dr. Thirteen, with accompanying spouses or Significant Others, share Christmas time in this K+ rated fic when everyone just wants a place to come in from the cold and friends to hold the door wide in welcome. In Stranger's case, the cold has lasted for millenia. DarkMark writes fic from the Golden Age and Silver Age of comics, bless him, with as wide a range of characters as any could wish for.

Thank you for giving small fandoms/rare pairs some love! (As the mod of several small fandom comms, that makes me happy. *g*)

For my comms it's based on the number of fanworks available for a fandom. For [community profile] smallfandomflsh it's 7,000, but for my other comms ([community profile] smallfandomfest and [community profile] smallfandombang) it's 2,000. I'm not sure what criteria Yuletide uses.

Oh, yeah, I see. No, we don't base it on the amount of canon.
