Cable TV viewers were startled by the use of the infamous "F-word" (our editors prohibit the full depiction of this noxious term, but you can find out its complete history in the OED -- its definition possibly worked on by Professor Tolkien himself!) as millions tuned in to the popular program's premiere episode of its sixth season.

Involving a plot device using a fan-verging-on-stalker of Detective Monk, said fan rattled off various "titles" of Detective Monk's cases, using captions known only to USA programmers:  "Mr. Monk And The Three Pies," "Mr. Monk And The Amusement Park," among others.  When the fan/stalker mentioned "Mr. Monk And The Invisible Dragon,"  Detective Monk asked, "What?  Where are you getting these titles?"

Fan/Stalker replied, using the verboten word boldly,  "Oh, right, I wrote that one.  FANFICTION.  Heh."

This viewer was highly not amused.
