Set a goal.

I made a backyard bower some years ago. Here's a photo of Willow perched on the toprail of the west-facing fence; I'm sitting on the old daybed used for writing, napping and daydreaming. Well, our recent storms smashed it flat! So the goal is to rebuild it for 2023.

You can see the transverse roof supports. They snagged a lot of rain which bowed and eventually broke the structure, so the plan is to hang perpendicular supports from the bower's toprail to sluice the rain downwards. Wish me luck!

I could use luck because rain is set for the end of this week, so Willow and another cat will have a dry place, and a better one, crosses fingers. Yup, Willow is a sweetie.

I appreciate the wishes for luck, thanks! Everything you see in the photo *except the cat* sprawls on the mud. A very nice man helped me out yesterday with some physical manly strength re pipe straightening, so the ridgepole is a go.

Thanks! The west-to-east toprail is 7 feet up as of today and I'm calculating a greater pitch to drain water better. Willow and her camera-shy pal, Poonelo, demand results before the rain predicted for Friday. :)

Yup, I'm through thinking and am doing. Rain predicted for Sunday, so we'll see how my combination cattery and she-shed holds up.

Update: Finished, with rain proceeding downwards. I love it when a plan comes together! :D
